Associate professor in informatics: University West

Ulrika Lundh Snis PhD in Informatics and associate professor of the same subject at the University West. Her research focuses on how to look for competence in working life and how information about employee skills can be documented and communicated via the system designed for this. Her informatics research also studied skills information and various forms of IT support for knowledge and learning. An example of research Ulrika Lundh Snis participated able actions and cross-border communications, where the objective was to gain a deeper understanding of the concept of competence and how the information associated with varying expertise processes handled in organizations and their IT systems. The research Ulrika engaged primarily action-oriented, where different initiatives studied over time to understand the conditions and changes in various digital support systems. In addition to that, elements of design are also a part of Ulrika's research. The aforementioned project built a digital system for employees and networking organizations' competence management. In a later projects Ulrika was responsible for digital innovation and IT development for mobile services and mobile payments.

Ulrika Lundh Snis finished her doctorate in 2002 and her thesis was about how knowledge can be codified in the company so that it is easily accessible when needed. A case study was an expert system for a technology called thermal spraying. The system stored knowledge of techniques, rules of thumb, logical reasoning to solve problems and more. Another case study was a Danish pharmaceutical company and how work was done in interpreting laws and regulations. For each new provision, any employee to find out what the concrete meant for the practical work within the company and then spread this knowledge within the organization.

Ulrika has been linked to the University West and its predecessor since its inception in 1990 and has been the co-creator of the majority of bachelor's, master's, and doctoral programs there. She is now part of the research group Learning in and for the new working life, LINA, University West and is the leader of the group named Competence in change.
